Description

SGL Raka Ray Agar with Cycloheximide and Tween is a selective culture medium developed for the detection and isolation of lactic acid bacteria associated with beer spoilage and brewing processes. Commonly used by breweries and beverage quality control laboratories, the medium supports the recovery of organisms such as Lactobacillus and Pediococcus, helping identify microbial contamination that can affect flavour, stability and product shelf life.
The addition of cycloheximide suppresses the growth of yeasts, making it easier to detect target bacterial contaminants, whilst the specialised formulation promotes the growth of lactic acid bacteria commonly encountered during brewing. The medium is widely used for monitoring in-process beer quality, investigating spoilage incidents and supporting brewery hygiene programmes. Supplied in convenient ready-to-use syrup bottles, it helps reduce preparation time and supports consistent microbiological testing.
