Description
Oxoid™ Tetrathionate Broth Base is a selective enrichment medium designed for the isolation of Salmonella spp., including Salmonella typhi, from clinical, food, and environmental samples. It is particularly effective for samples containing mixed flora, such as faeces and sewage, by suppressing competing organisms.
Supplied in a 500g dehydrated powder format, this medium requires the addition of an iodine/iodide solution to activate the tetrathionate component, enhancing its selectivity for Salmonella species.
