Description
Oxoid™ Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (Dehydrated) is a selective medium formulated for the cultivation and isolation of dermatophytes, yeasts, and other fungi from clinical and environmental specimens. Its acidic pH (~5.6) supports fungal growth while inhibiting bacterial contamination, making it ideal for samples such as skin, hair, nails, and food products.
Supplied in a 2.5kg dehydrated powder format (catalog number CM0041R), this medium is ready for reconstitution and sterilization, yielding approximately 38.5 liters of prepared agar. It can be supplemented with antibiotics like chloramphenicol or cycloheximide to enhance selectivity when isolating pathogenic fungi in mixed cultures.
