Oxoid™ Cefixime Supplement (1 x 0.025mg per 500ml) is a selective supplement designed to enhance the isolation of Salmonella species from clinical, food, and environmental samples. Cefixime, a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic, is used in this supplement to inhibit the growth of Gram-negative bacteria, enabling the selective growth of Salmonella species while suppressing the growth of competing organisms. It is commonly used in combination with selective media for the detection of Salmonella.
