Description
SGL Maximum Recovery Diluent (MRD) is a ready-to-use isotonic diluent designed to maintain the viability of microorganisms during sample preparation and serial dilution procedures. Commonly used in food microbiology, environmental monitoring, water testing and pharmaceutical quality control laboratories, MRD helps protect stressed or damaged microorganisms from osmotic shock, improving recovery rates during microbiological analysis.
MRD is widely used for preparing decimal dilutions of food, environmental and clinical samples prior to microbial enumeration and contamination testing. The formulation combines the protective properties of peptone with the osmotic balance provided by physiological saline, helping maintain viable microbial counts without encouraging significant growth during the dilution process. Supplied in convenient 9ml universal bottles with plastic caps, it is ideal for routine laboratory workflows and ISO-compliant testing programmes.
