Description

Dey-Engley Neutralizing Broth is a medium used to test the bactericidal activity of disinfectants. It neutralizes a broad spectrum of antiseptics and disinfectants, including quaternary ammonium compounds, phenolics, iodine, chlorine, mercurials, formaldehyde, and glutaraldehyde. The broth consists of tryptone, dextrose, yeast extract, sodium bisulfite, sodium thioglycolate, sodium thiosulfate, lecithin, polysorbate 80, and bromocresol purple. Growth is indicated by a color change from purple to yellow. Dey-Engley Neutralizing Broth is used to neutralize the residual action of disinfectants on the microbiological growth. It is also used to resuspend the Vermamoeba (Hartmannella) vermiformis cysts to neutralize peracetic acid (PAA). Dey-Engley Neutralizing Broth is a valuable tool for disinfectant testing. It is easy to use and can be used to test a wide variety of disinfectants.
