Description
Yeast & Mould Agar + 0.31g/l Copper Sulphate (55mm Plates) is a pre-poured microbiological medium designed for the isolation and enumeration of yeasts and moulds that are tolerant to copper. The medium appears as a clear, blue-green gel and is supplied in 55mm plates, ideal for use in food and beverage quality control, brewing, and general microbiological testing. The addition of copper sulphate enhances selectivity by inhibiting non-target organisms, allowing for more accurate detection of wild yeasts and moulds. Plates need to be stored at 2–8°C.
Applications
- Food and beverage industry: Monitoring microbial contamination in production environments
- Brewing: Detection of wild yeasts such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae
- General microbiology: Enumeration of copper-tolerant yeasts and moulds
- Quality control: Routine hygiene and contamination checks
- Research and development: Studying copper resistance in fungal organisms
