Tergitol^™ 15-S-9 is a linear non-ionic surfactant that is a secondary ethoxylated alcohol.[1] This clear liquid surfactant is compatible with anionic, cationic, and other nonionic surfactants.

Tergitol^™ 15-S-9 has been used:

• To synthesize thermally stable mesoporous alumina[2]
• To synthesize porous TiO₂[2]
• Along with SDS, ethanol and water for continuous phase preparations in electrospray emulsification[3]
• In the synthesis of Lath-like γ-alumina and boehmite nanofibers[3]

Tergitol has been used as a surfactant to study its influence on the formation of multi-phase micro-emulsions.[4]
