Description
Oxoid™ Yeast Extract Agar is a nutrient-rich medium formulated for the cultivation and enumeration of a broad spectrum of microorganisms, including bacteria, yeasts, and molds. It is particularly effective for the plate count of heterotrophic microorganisms in water samples, conforming to ISO 1133:2014 standards.

- Application: Detection and enumeration of heterotrophic microorganisms in water
- Composition: Yeast extract, peptone, agar
- Preparation: Suspend 23g in 1 litre of distilled water; autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes
- Storage: Store the dehydrated medium at 10–30°C; store prepared medium below 25°C
- Yield: Approximately 217.4 litres of medium
- pH: 7.2 ± 0.2 at 25°C
