Description
XLT-4 (Xylose Lysine Tergitol™ 4) Agar is a highly selective, pre-poured medium designed for the isolation and identification of Salmonella species from clinical, environmental, and food samples. The formulation includes a combination of carbohydrates and selective agents that enhance differentiation and inhibit background flora.
- Pre-poured 90mm plates for convenience and consistency
- Selective formulation with Tergitol™ 4 to suppress non-target organisms
- Differentiation based on fermentation of xylose, lactose, and sucrose, and decarboxylation of lysine
- Visual identification: Salmonella colonies appear red with black centers due to hydrogen sulfide production
Applications
- Food Microbiology: Detects Salmonella in raw and processed food products
- Environmental Monitoring: Used in water and surface testing for contamination
- Clinical Diagnostics: Aids in identifying Salmonella from stool and other clinical specimens
