Oxoid™ Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar (VRBGA) 500g

Oxoid™ Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar (VRBGA) (500g) is a selective and differential medium used for the enumeration and isolation of coliforms, especially Escherichia coli and other enteric bacteria, from food, water, and environmental samples. The medium contains bile salts and crystal violet, which inhibit the growth of Gram-positive organisms, while allowing the growth of Gram-negative bacteria. The inclusion of glucose allows for the differentiation of fermenters, which produce acid and cause the formation of red colonies, from non-fermenters.
