Oxoid™ Sheep Blood Agar Base (500g) CM0854B is a non-selective medium used for the isolation and cultivation of a wide range of fastidious microorganisms, including pathogens from clinical, environmental, and food samples. When supplemented with defibrinated sheep blood, it provides a rich environment that supports the growth of a variety of bacteria, including those that require blood for optimal growth.

• Application: Isolation and cultivation of fastidious microorganisms, supplemented with blood for enhanced bacterial growth
• Composition: Nutrient-rich base for supporting bacterial growth; when supplemented with blood, it supports the detection of haemolytic activity
• Preparation: Suspend 49g in 1 litre of distilled water, mix thoroughly, and autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes. Once cooled, add 5-10% sterile defibrinated sheep blood before use.

• Storage: Store the dehydrated medium at 10–30°C, protected from moisture and light
