Description
Oxoid™ MacConkey Broth Purple (500g) is a selective and differential medium used for the detection and enumeration of coliforms, particularly Escherichia coli and other enteric Gram-negative bacteria, from water, food, and environmental samples. The medium contains bile salts and crystal violet, which inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria, and is formulated to promote the growth of coliforms. The pH indicator (neutral red) allows for the differentiation of lactose fermenters, with acid-producing bacteria turning the medium pink to red.
Key Features:
- Form: Dehydrated powder
- Weight: 500g
