Description
Oxoid™ Listeria Oxford Selective Agar Base (500g) CM0856B is a selective medium designed for the isolation and enumeration of Listeria species, including Listeria monocytogenes, from food, environmental, and clinical samples. This medium, when supplemented with specific additives, supports the growth of Listeria while inhibiting the growth of competing flora, making it an ideal choice for food safety and microbiological testing.

- Composition: Contains selective agents (such as nalidixic acid and acriflavine) that inhibit non-Listeria organisms; supports the growth of Listeria spp.
- Preparation: Suspend 46.7g in 1 litre of distilled water, mix thoroughly, and autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes. Supplement with 0.5g of selective supplement (Oxoid™ Listeria Oxford Selective Supplement) per litre before use.
- Yield: Approximately 10 litres of prepared medium
- Storage: Store the dehydrated medium at 10–30°C, protected from moisture and light
