Description
Description: A pre-poured 90 mm agar plate pack (10 per pack), specially designed to isolate and cultivate Bordetella pertussis (whooping cough) and Bordetella parapertussis from nasal swab samples.
- A charcoal-enriched agar base, which supports Bordetella growth and neutralizes fatty acids that inhibit it.
- Cephalexin (40 mg/L), plus M&B 938 (12 µg/mL) to suppress unwanted bacteria, like coliforms and antibiotic-resistant strains.
- Defibrinated horse blood, enhancing growth and helping differentiate colonies.
- Black, opaque plates (fill weight ~17 g, pH ~7.5).
Key Benefits:
Selective isolation – designed to favour Bordetella while inhibiting most other bacteria and fungi
High recovery rate – charcoal plus antibiotics improves detection of stressed or low-level organisms.
Ready-to-use convenience – no prep needed; just allow to reach room temperature from refrigerator and incubate.
Applications:
- Clinical microbiology labs.
- Diagnostic testing for whooping cough.
- Research on Bordetella species.
Storage Instructions:
- Store refrigerated at 2–12 °C in the dark.
- Do not freeze.
- Allow plates to reach room temperature before use.
