Description
Oxoid™ Bismuth Sulfite Agar (500g) is a selective and differential medium used for the isolation and differentiation of Salmonella species, particularly Salmonella typhi, from clinical and environmental samples. The medium contains bismuth sulfite, which inhibits the growth of most other microorganisms, whilst allowing the growth of Salmonella species. The medium’s colour changes depending on the biochemical reactions of the bacteria, providing a visual indication of Salmonella presence.
