Description
Oxoid™ Anaerobic Indicator (Resazurin) BR0055B
This product consists of cotton indicator strips impregnated with resazurin, a redox-sensitive dye used to monitor anaerobic conditions. Designed for use with anaerobic jar systems (such as AnaeroGen), the strip provides a visual confirmation of oxygen levels.
- Function: Detects anaerobic conditions by colour change. The strip turns pink/red in the presence of oxygen and white when oxygen is reduced to 1% or less, confirming an anaerobic environment.
- Format: 100 indicator strips per pack, individually sealed in laminated foil envelopes for stability.
- Storage: Refrigerate at 2–8 °C; effective for up to 6 months.
- Applications: Ideal for microbiology labs to ensure proper anaerobic incubation for organisms such as Clostridium, Bacteroides, and Fusobacterium.
- Advantages: More sensitive and faster reacting than methylene blue indicators; provides reproducible colour change.
