Description
Milk Plate Count Agar is used for the isolation and enumeration of microorganisms in milk and dairy products and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. A medium recommended by the British Standards Institute and the International Organization for Standardization for the enumeration of viable bacteria in milk and other dairy products.
Preparation
- Suspend 19.5 grams of the medium in one liter of purified water.
- Heat with frequent agitation and boil for one minute to completely dissolve the medium.
- Autoclave at 121ºC for 15 minutes.
- Cool to 45-50ºC.
