Brilliant Green Agar (Modified) is used for the selection and differentiation of Salmonella (other than S. typhi) from foods or feedstuffs. Brilliant Green Agar (Modified) is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. The medium is suitable for subcultures from selective enrichment media. However, because this medium is highly selective, small numbers of salmonellae may be missed.
Preparation
- Suspend 58 g of the medium in one liter of purified water.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
- Cool to 45-50°C.
