Description
Baird-Parker Agar is used for detection and enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus in foods and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.
Preparation
- Suspend 60 g of the medium in one liter of purified water.
- Heat with frequent agitation and boil for one minute to completely dissolve the medium.
- Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
- After cooling to 45 – 50°C, add 50 mL of NCM4010, Egg Yolk Tellurite. Alternatively, add 50 mL of NCM4017, Egg Yolk Emulsion 50%, and 10 mL of NCM4012 Potassium Tellurite 1%.
- Mix thoroughly before dispensing.
